At Insulated Packaging Systems, we are known for our quality products. One custom product that we take great pride in is our floats, which are made of No.1 Virgin EPS, which is the finest expanded polystyrene closed cell fiberglass.
Marina Docks
The fiberglass is coated or encapsulated on three sides of the float, including the ends of the float itself. It is light and easy to handle under the water or on the surfaces. Our high resistant fiberglass and resins protect the foam inside from fuel, oils and other components used in boat maintenance. Our floats can be used for small docks or decks. You can save money if you have a kayak or canoe; no need to spend money on a large infrastructure when a small deck can do the job!
Installing the floats is not complicated and is affordable; there no straps needed and not much hardware, as other floatation systems. The fiberglass lasts for years, making the lifetime of the float longer than others that are sold on the market today. Time is money, and docks and dock builders love our floats for the simplicity of the installation, making their job easy and faster and less complicated than other floatation devices.
IPS has been building and selling fiberglass floats for more than 25 years, selling them to local, regional and national markets. Our floats can be used in salt water and fresh water and lend themselves for both commercial and private use!
Whether you are in the marine boat business or boat repairs, we’re here to serve you for all your custom float dock needs. And, as always, we’re only a FOAM call away! Contact us today for your FREE quote!

Polyurethane has been in use for many years, and for a variety of different applications. It is a form of plastic, and can be used for insulation, and in the creation of a variety of different products. However, in this article, we will address the most popular uses for this versatile product, as a packing substance used for cushioning. This is one of the most widely used applications for polyurethane, and cushioning comes in a wide variety of forms.
One of the most common creations of polyurethane are packaging peanuts, or fillers for holding fragile objects in place while in transit from one place to another. In the old days, (just some years ago, of course,) packing peanuts were loose in the containers. Now you can find them in small plastic bags, so they don’t spill and scatter all over the place when you open your products at home. There are many different shapes and sizes of these packing fillers.
Another application for polyurethane packaging is in rigid barriers. They can really be just about any shape and size, and are used in a number of different ways. When you buy any kind of audio or visual equipment, like televisions, stereos, and even computers, they come with these barriers around them, in key points where they are most likely to move around and get damaged. Because they are rigid, they hold items in place better, and you don’t need as many to keep your valuables in place.
You can also buy them on your own, when you are packing your home to move. There are many different polyurethane barriers for glasses, precious China, and other valuables. They can be made for edges, partitions, and just about anything else you need them for. You can even special order polyurethane packaging from companies for your individual needs.
Rigid polyurethane foam also makes a great insulating barrier for exterior walls, and there are many newer homes that utilize these materials. They are lightweight, can be cut to size, and will fit just about any cubbyhole, or wall space you need. They are moisture resistant and will last a lifetime. Because of its buoyancy and molding ability, polyurethane foam has been used for dock floats, boat pontoons, and dock barriers. It can be painted any color, without loosing its effectiveness. There are many uses for polyurethane, and every day more and more innovations are being discovered for its use.

Expanded Polystyrene
Where space is an issue, and you need to pack great insulating capacity into a small place, EPS can be custom cut to your desired requirements. Home insulation foam, rigid panels, such as EPS or ‘beadboard,’ can be utilized against footings and exterior foundation walls, inside unfinished interior walls as panels or custom cut to fit inside walls and secured places.
EPS molded foam packaging provides a no-mess, secure fit. Its firm, unyielding structure will prevent unsafe shifting during product shipment. Offering minimal compressibility, EPS foam packaging can withstand repeated handling and meets the high standard of durability!
EPS foam packaging is also highly resistant to heat flow. Products that tend to be temperature sensitive, such as pharmaceuticals, perishable products and electronic components are best packaged utilizing the EPS insulation process. Keeping product weight in check and under control is always a concern. Expanded polystyrene’s lightweight characteristics and cushioning properties lend itself well to the most delicate items. For critical applications, EPS is treated for additional anti-static protection.
Our goal is to ensure that when your product arrives at its respected destination, it will be intact and ready for use, arriving in ONE piece!
